Why can I only talk to users/patients who are located in a state in which I have a license to practice in?
In most cases, doctors have to be licensed in the state in which THE PATIENT is located to be able to give that person medical advice or treatment. TalktoaDoc.org will ask users/patients which state they are located in to make sure that the doctor who talks to them has a license to practice medicine in that state.
What about malpractice coverage?
Doctors are going to complete their duties for TalktoaDoc.org as independent contractors and are therefore responsible for their own malpractice coverage as they are the ones providing the service and are ultimately responsible for it. TalktoaDoc.org does not provide malpractice insurance, but you may already be covered by your current malpractice carrier to participate. If you are unsure whether or not your current malpractice insurance carrier will cover you then please call and ask them. Remember to inform them that you will only receive questions from patients who are located in a state that you are licensed to practice medicine in. If they do not cover you then please ask why and let us know the reason to see if we can work something out. Doctors will sign an independent contractor agreement with TalktoaDoc.org and users of the site will be required to accept TalktoaDoc.org's terms of use before they will be given access to a doctor.
